Yachtmaster Offshore
To qualify for the course which again consists of 5 days of preparation followed by an exam, you must have a pretty broad yachting history, the minimum being 50 days on the water, 5 days as a skipper, 2500 nautical miles, and 5 passages over 60 miles 2 of which should have been overnight and 2 of which you should have been the skipper.
The syllabus is the same as that of the Coastal Skipper, but rather than just showing you have an understanding of the skills required you are expected to demonstrate that you are competent in the all of the skills in the syllabus. This certificate is internationally recognised as the best Yachting qualification you can hold because of the high standards. If you wish to have a career in yachting this certificate is a must. This isn’t just a ticket for prospective cruising instructors, it consolidates all of the experiences you have had of sailing, it proves you have mastered the art of being a skipper and will give you a great boost, who knows where this new found confidence will take you?
